Gender identities and presentations profoundly impact all areas of our lives providing us both joy and difficulties. In Buddhism, identity is often viewed as something to be overcome and abandoned, a view that can perpetuate conventions and practices that exclude some and privilege others. We will explore how the Buddha’s teachings offer a framework for investigating gendered identities beyond the binary and learn ways to create inclusive communities that celebrate the beauty of our diverse communities.
